天亮后，同时发现了对方的双方舰队全速展开，各自派出了攻击波

日军的攻击波包含600+的烈风和400+的攻击机，是一个超过1000机的大波，盟军的1800架直掩与日军激战后，无暇顾及攻击机，导致400+架攻击机全部无损突防。不过这一次天气站在了盟军一边，因为雷暴雨天气，海面波浪较大，鱼雷的命中率大大下降。如果是晴天的话，大统领预计盟军的损失还要再高一倍。

激战中盟军盟军当场损失了皇家海军CV不屈号，刚刚入役的美国海军战列巡洋舰关岛号，以及4艘CVE，其余大部分CV挂彩，但仍保持了起降飞机的能力。

附近可以使用的大机场也仅有卡加延一个9级机场而已，其它都基本没有修起来
