战争进行到42年3月初,不知不觉开战已经3个月了,这三个月里,天黄实施了一贯的闪击战术,南方军迅速在整个太平洋展开,完全占领南洋以及PM、瓜岛、NC一线。其它各个战场还在胶着中,具体战况总结如下:

     派遣军沿着西安、剑阁、贵阳的既定攻击路线,突破了国军防守,并把国军剩余兵力成功切割为四川盆地、云南、长沙三块。接下来将逐步蚕食之,目前进展最快的是长沙周边,已经绕道切入长沙后方,攻占衡阳等三城,很快长沙将变成一座孤城。1 z* Z- t8 d" _

2月南方军占领斐济以后,盟军快速增援了瓦瓦乌、帕果帕果一带,集结了初期可以动用的大部分军力,包括2个师左右的陆军,400余架各式飞机,以及包括多艘CA在内的水面力量。

3月1日,盟军CA编队悍然突入苏瓦港,击沉当地的守备舰队旗舰轻巡夕张号后并炮击了机场,此举促使天皇最终决定彻底解决南太问题。
