首先是在印度洋科科斯岛附近，日军根据海搜机情报跟踪一队盟军运输船，并派出南洋驻留舰队攻击，成功追上了敌船队，可惜由于追击舰队本身力量太弱，没有对敌军造成重大伤害。

最后，当天的重头戏——KB出击！

盟军一支轻型舰队在前天突袭特鲁克后返回了波纳佩基地，并解散在港口内补充，这一点被日军侦察机敏锐地注意到，正在附近海域待机的海军机动舰队决定利用这个机会，对这支处于解散状态的舰队展开致命打击！. o! ~+ U2 U* o; j
侦查显示波纳佩有约200架战斗机把守，KB全力出击，还是有把握。此外在特鲁克待命的陆基战斗机机队也接到了扫场作战的指令，协助KB攻击。

双方小心才能打得长久。不过，南鸟岛攻略投入是不是小了点？在无法确保制空权制海权的这个阶段，恐怕要更舍得牺牲陆军才行

日军在增援的陆军部队的同时还组织了舰队炮击和飞机轰炸，但是，在丛林地形下，炮击和轰炸取得的效果都微乎其微，几乎没有对盟军造成任何伤亡，导致第二天的地面战一边倒，刚刚增援上去的第64师团一个主力步兵联队没有能够力挽狂澜，米尔恩湾失陷，米尔恩湾守备部队残部大部分撤向布纳，然而路途遥远，补给断绝，已经处于绝境

使用大规模杀伤性武器是完全没有人道的

从龟背一路爬过去，盟军战线有望与澳北连成一线，在日军腹部形成一个巨大缺口，在往北走，到处都是支离破碎的岛屿群，盟军可以从容在陆基保护下一步步进逼菲律宾；往西走，可以截断爪哇和巨港的燃料产地与本土的航线；同时还将日军苦心经营的拉包尔——特鲁克——马里亚纳群岛外围一圈防线完全绕开，可谓是战略上非常见效果的一步棋，盟军提出此策略的参谋值得大统领颁发荣誉勋章~
