在盟军的强大火力和兵力优势之下，第19军下属1个师团1个旅团外加1个联队为主的库塞伊防御部队竟不能抵抗超过一个星期便崩溃了，这已经是太平洋历次登陆战中日军战斗条件最好的一次了，无论部队数目还是当地补给都是最多的，驻守部队的抵抗，亦不可谓不顽强。然而部队战斗力耗竭速度之快，却远远超乎预计。6 F, @( O4 i1 r4 O; K$ G6 k) b* E
库塞伊岛之战，标志着44年盟军全面大反攻的序幕，在这之后，盟军攻势的强度明显增强（一次战役登陆5个师），战斗趋向残酷化（一次性歼灭将近两个师团兵力），帝国前沿阵地开始一个接一个地落入无可挽回的深渊。( Y P4 _2 d8 a, X: M

永久损失应该30个左右的个步兵班，美陆军第六师伤亡过半，其他四个师损失轻微，5%-10%临时损坏

库塞伊岛沦陷后，紧接着处于库塞伊后方的下一个日军基地波纳佩就开始陷入暗无天日的轰炸之中，帝国防空部队虽然手持性能蹩脚的防空武器，但仍然坚持向天空射击，3月20日全天，取得击落4架来袭4发轰炸机的战绩，此诚开战以来地面防空兵部队同一基地内取得的单日最高战绩。
库塞伊岛上，虽然机场港口已经全部丢失，但是第19军残部仍然还在奋战中，20日，在于冲上来企图扫清全岛的盟军部队的战斗中继续杀伤了一部分盟军部队，真是可歌可泣！2 j$ Z: `3 c' R( j

当天帝国集中大量疾风丙和紫电改机队在布纳对盟军在澳北的主要的航空基地波特兰路发动了一次航空歼灭战，帝国空军集中兵力全力突击，本来预计会与盟军机队展开一场残酷厮杀，不料盟军战斗机部队管理松懈，在前线放起了大假，完全没有考虑到日军突袭的可能，没有部署一架直掩战斗机，结果被日军大破机场，并在地面上被击毁击伤大量飞机，帝国部队损失微不足道。

实际情况是这些飞机都是对莫港扫场和轰炸的，不过由于天气原因一部分飞机停在机场上没有起飞，其他的飞机把莫港机场再次炸烂

3月24日，帝国通过反复航空侦察，发觉凯恩斯正成为澳洲北部盟军兵力的集聚点，港内停泊有大量登陆用船只，而由于此地超过日军战斗机的护航范围，因此盟军放心的将船只停在港内，机场也未部署直掩，得到这一信息的联合舰队本欲出动多次进行敌后突击的陆攻机队上场，但是帝国陆军航空兵却向长官表达了出击的强烈意愿，考虑到大部分可以动用的陆攻机队近期正在各地进行航空压制任务，难以分身，联合舰队遂同意了陆军的这一请求，决定由陆军航空兵独立完成这一次的任务，从日军布纳机场和米龙湾机场至凯恩斯的航程均为13格，正处在陆军现役主力轰炸机百式重型轰炸机的极限航程内，所以设计了本次突袭作战。最终行动顺利完成，当天上百架吞龙改将凯恩斯港口内的盟军登陆船一扫而空。" q, B6 j& w3 ]/ I2 n
