本想把把包括威尔士亲王在内的重型水面舰队隐藏在新西兰南岛准备伏击日军，但是KB绕了一个大圈从东南边杀到，避开了盟军的水机。KB载机已经非常紧缺，并没有携带大量的攻击机，威尔士亲王所中一雷毫发无伤，重巡路易斯维尔号需要进港排水了，条约型重巡质量也太次了。。。
