在10艘DD的保护下，约克城号两次被同一ss命中，导致沉没，虽然事发时间已是白天，但是机队却无一生还，带走了60+的飞机，同时也带走了26名飞行员。

打算开往西雅图做全面修理，除了本编队的6dd外，还有一4dd的反潜编队跟随，附近还有2个反潜编队在帮忙，旧金山的b25也在全部反潜，即便如此一ss依然摸到了约克城，而且是2次，都在白天，* ~2 {# Q7 P' F/ S$ y) N
护航的dd形同虚设。

出门的时候就猜到对方可能在西雅图附近有ss，于是特地选择不靠近海岸线，从深海区域北上，但是最后这一段，舰队的行动路线完全是自作主张的，这。。。。。。。
