0 z( ^% a+ J) t" C就在日军气势汹汹大举向印度入侵之时，太平洋战场的日军实力降到了历史的最低点，盟军在据守努美阿的同时开始向北拓展控制范围，在卢甘维尔的隐秘登陆不知为何被日军察觉，日军的水雷战队匆匆从拉包尔出动南下，在前一天即被盟军大艇察觉，于是美澳联合舰队进驻卢甘维尔，准备痛击日军+ w' b0 h! u R1 l. r4 U

名声在外的日军水雷战队并没有发挥其实力，反倒是被不擅长夜战的盟军重型舰艇揪住脖领一顿好打，来犯的6艘DD悉数沉没，盟军方面2艘DD一中伤一轻伤。
